Our Long-Standing Partnership with Chelsea Hospital
For more than 50 years, DStevens has worked alongside Chelsea Hospital, supporting the ongoing development of its facilities through a wide range of upgrades, refurbishments, and maintenance projects.
It’s a relationship built over time, shaped by working within a live healthcare environment, understanding the demands of clinical spaces, and consistently delivering work that allows the hospital to keep operating without interruption.
Our early involvement included the development of new patient suites, followed by a series of key upgrades that have helped the hospital evolve over the years. These projects have ranged from theatre and kitchen upgrades through to improvements to patient areas, including dayrooms and ensuites, as well as the construction of the main entry portico and reception. Alongside this, we have provided ongoing repairs and maintenance, continuing to support the hospital’s day-to-day operations.
More recently, we completed construction of a new autoclave room, a high-spec sterilisation space designed to support infection control and equipment servicing. The works were carefully staged alongside live theatres and clinical areas. Close coordination with hospital staff ensured the project was completed safely, while maintaining access and minimising disruption.
We are currently on site delivering further upgrades to the hospital’s sluice room and recovery suites. This work is focused on streamlining workflows and creating a more functional environment for both patients and staff. As with all projects at Chelsea Hospital, the work is being carefully staged, with our team working closely alongside hospital staff and project partners to ensure operations continue smoothly.
Over the years, these projects have involved collaboration with a wide range of consultants, architects, and specialist subcontractors. That collective approach has been key to delivering work in a complex, live environment where timing, coordination, and clear communication are critical.
Our long-standing relationship with Chelsea Hospital reflects a shared commitment to maintaining and improving essential healthcare facilities. It is work that requires care, precision, and trust, and one we are proud to continue.
