Eastland Port Offices Wins at the NZ Commercial Project Awards

The Registered Master Builders Commercial Project Awards sets the benchmark for commercial construction in New Zealand and celebrates collaboration and innovation across the building industry.

Project teams from all around Aotearoa came together at Te Pae Christchurch Convention & Exhibition Centre on Friday 20 May to celebrate the best in commercial construction during an awards ceremony hosted by Antonia Prebble. The 2022 awards mark the 10-year anniversary of the prestigious New Zealand Commercial Project Awards programme, which is owned and run by Registered Master Builders.

DStevens is thrilled that Eastland Port’s offices in the Inner Harbour were awarded Silver in the Commercial category. The former Freezing Works head office at 2 Crawford Road has transformed a former retail and restaurant space into a modern and collaborative workplace for Eastland Port.

DStevens Managing Director, Peter Stevens, highlighted the calibre of the entries and acknowledged the success of our project team;

“As builders and joiners we are challenged to bring design to life by crafting spaces and places that resonate with people. The standard of commercial buildings being constructed in New Zealand is in line with the best in the world and we are so proud to have our work recognised alongside these projects.

Eastland Port’s Offices not only continues DStevens’ extensive history delivering quality commercial and office environments in Gisborne, but showcases how existing buildings can be adapted and reused with innovative design and construction.

We are thrilled to accept this award on behalf of our project partners and our client, Eastland Port. It is an incredible acknowledgement of all the collaboration, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that goes into our projects.

It is a privilege to represent Gisborne at a national level and we thank Eastland Port for trusting DStevens to bring their vision to life.”

We wish to congratulate Eastland Port on this outstanding result and acknowledge the incredible efforts of everyone involved in the design, construction and delivery of this project.

ABOUT THE NZ COMMERCIAL PROJECT AWARDS

The New Zealand Commercial Project Awards competition is judged by a team of experts who visit each building to meet with the project team. This prestigious awards programme sets the benchmark for commercial construction in New Zealand and celebrates collaboration and innovation across the building industry.

The New Zealand Commercial Project Awards is the only competition in New Zealand to recognise and showcase the contribution and innovation of the whole project team – the people – rather than just the building itself. The size of the project is not what is important - the team collaboration and innovation, and what the team achieves together, are what these awards are all about.

Entries are judged by a panel of two judges (a commercial contractor and experienced member of the construction industry) and awarded a range of quality marks. An awards ceremony is held in May to present the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards, National Category Winners, Special Awards and the Supreme Award.
