DStevens Achieves 100% Safety Rating for Fourth Consecutive Year

We are proud to announce that DStevens has achieved a 100% Gold SiteWise rating for 2025 – marking the fourth consecutive year our systems have been recognised at the highest level.

This result reflects the strength of our health and safety processes and our commitment to continuous improvement across every part of our operations. From offices and workshops through to project sites, our goal is always the same: to ensure everyone returns home safe at the end of each day.

What Is SiteWise?

SiteWise is a prequalification system developed by Site Safe New Zealand. Each year, contractors undergo a rigorous independent assessment of their health and safety practices. The process examines everything from policies, training and incident reporting through to subcontractor management and workplace inspections.

In our 2025 assessment, DStevens achieved full marks across all categories, with a total score of 155 out of 155. This outcome places us once again at the Gold standard, providing assurance to clients and partners that our systems meet the highest expectations.

Our Ongoing Commitment to Safety

DStevens has undertaken an independent safety audit with SiteWise every year since 2017. Each assessment has helped us refine and strengthen our approach, with systems and procedures evolving over time to ensure a consistently healthy and safe workplace. This long-term commitment reflects our belief that safety is never static – it is something we must keep improving together.

A Shared Effort

DStevens’ Managing Director Peter Stevens said the result is testament to the dedication of the whole team:

“The construction industry will always present risks, but what matters is how well those risks are managed. I am proud of the effort our people put in every day to create safe environments – whether on site, in the yard, or in the office. Achieving another 100% rating shows that our systems are strong and continue to evolve, but it also reflects the culture of care and responsibility that runs right through the company.”

Looking Ahead

We know that health and safety is never a one-off achievement. It is a continuous journey that requires us to review, adapt and improve. In the year ahead, we will be focusing on consolidating aspects of our reporting system across the company, making it more intuitive and user-friendly for our people.

By refining our systems and maintaining a culture of shared responsibility, DStevens remains committed to setting the benchmark for safety in construction and to supporting the wellbeing of everyone we work with.
