Summary 2015

Peter Stevens, DStevens' Managing Director, offers his reflection of an absolutely brilliant year at DStevens and the outstanding commitment of our teams.

With the holidays upon us, and 2015 drawing to a close, it’s a great time to look back at this unforgettable year. Together we have reached new heights with our projects and delivered the highest quality buildings, interiors and joinery to our clients. I’m immensely proud of the work that you and your teams are doing to make DStevens a strong representation of quality craftsmanship, both through our projects and by making a difference in our community.

This year marked the 60th anniversary of DStevens, a company that has been a symbol of evolution in the construction industry since its introduction in 1955. Today, we enjoy a wider audience than ever and the privilege to work on many exciting projects across an increasing range of sectors. This achievement is a credit to our people who are constantly innovating to make DStevens the best company in the region. Year after year, our projects get better because we love what we do and we can’t stop thinking about the future possibilities for Gisborne. It’s been a year of amazing projects across the board. Our education projects – such as Kaiti School’s Rawinia Whare Kauri Paeroa Te Kani Classrooms and Lytton High School’s Gym Extensions - capture our belief that education spaces should give students the most supportive environment possible to learn the skills they need for the future. Our efforts in the residential and commercial sectors are a fantastic reminder that good buildings have the power to change the way we live. At home or at work, while traveling, relaxing or being entertained, good buildings bring people together.

Earlier this year we launched an entirely new online platform — — that is proving a very successful way to communicate and engage with suppliers and customers. Our online presence has had incredible growth this year as we have increased our activity on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. Each of these accounts opens new opportunities for DStevens, and their impact will continue to be felt far into our future. It is my hope that you will share and engage with our online platform holding a feeling of pride in the work that you have achieved. The success of our company is found in our people. It is about creating jobs and opportunities for workers from all walks of life. We’re dedicated to advancing equality, diversity and human rights in our workplace, from our offices to the site.

In October, we gave our customers a glimpse of our diverse range of services at the A&P Spring Show, our second time exhibiting at the annual event. During this busy event our team did a fantastic job introducing and answering questions about all of our projects and services, and they did it with the energy and enthusiasm that has always endeared us to our customers. Most customers will never know how hard you and your colleagues are working to make it their dream a reality, but they will appreciate the depth of care and effort behind the finished project from the moment they lay eyes on it. People love DStevens projects, which means they love the work you do. The knowledge that you’ve done something great for someone else is a powerful reward — one that I hope you feel during the holiday season and throughout the year. There’s nothing else quite like it.

Enjoy this time with your friends and loved ones. I could not be more excited about what’s in store for next year, and for the opportunity to work with all of you to make it happen.
