Lone Star

$0.00

Commercial – 2022

The new-look Lone Star Gisborne in Shed 1 has been extended out towards the river, with large expanses of glass maximising the views of the harbour and an opening roof ensuring the space is light and inviting.

The old wharf shed, originally built in 1929, was strengthened by DStevens in 2021 and has since undergone an extensive renovation – designed by Tairāwhiti’s Architects 44.

The original character of the building has been retained and enhanced, and old wood from Eastland Port has been recycled by DStevens to make bespoke furniture for the restaurant. The renovation includes a new extension at the west end of the building, an opening louvre roof, kitchen and bathroom upgrades, and some interior changes.

With a simple palette that uses solid exposed timbers and a charcoal and white colour scheme, the renovation is in keeping with the existing materials, detailing and proportions of the original wharf building.
