Lytton High School – Technology Block

$0.00

Education – 2017

DStevens was awarded the contract to upgrade the Technology Block at Lytton High School in early 2017 and quickly began demolition on site.

The project aims to consolidate and upgrade the metalcraft, woodwork and graphics facilities into a large 1400sqm building. The new building has been designed by Darrington Slater Architecture and involves an extensive upgrade to the existing facilities, centred around a steel-framed, glazed atrium that opens out towards the school grounds.

The interior of the new technology block involves the repurposing of the existing technology classrooms to align with modern innovative learning environment standards. Predominantly flexible space, the technology block has taken a campus style arrangement, connecting multiple areas of the block to ensure that the education environment has a holistic and united aesthetic.

The project involved a challenging mix of demolition and various construction types and techniques, including the erection of a new structural steel portal frame between two existing classroom blocks.

As with all our projects, we have kept a tight control of all project costs and identified any savings that could be made to keep the building within budget. The $1.4 million project is on track to be completed on time, to budget, with no compromises to the high-quality finish and workmanship that DStevens is known for.

By embracing change and striving to create an exemplar environment for their staff and students, Lytton High School is creating a modern technology block where learning will flourish.
