Lytton High School – Cooking and Textiles
Education – 2021
The Cooking and Textiles Rooms within the Technology Block at Lytton High School were upgraded by DStevens in 2021 to provide modern learning facilities for students and staff alike, including state-of-the-art commercial kitchens and a training restaurant.
The Technology Block houses food technology and textiles teaching spaces which are required to meet the technology curriculum. Lytton High School wanted to upgrade and refurbish the spaces to modernise the facility and provide students with a real-world learning experience.
DStevens worked with Lytton High School to schedule the majority of works to be completed during school holiday periods to minimise disruption to school operations.
Within the classrooms, all existing linings were removed and some walls rebuilt to adjust the spatial layout. Southern Hospitality was engaged to provide and install new stainless steel benches, commercial kitchen appliances and a large extraction hood in the food and catering spaces.
Similar refurbishment works were undertaken in the neighbouring Textiles room before new linings and finishes were installed along with bench space that wraps around the room.
Our team were privileged to be involved in the redevelopment of the Cooking and Textiles Rooms at Lytton High School, building on our previous work in the Technology Block. The upgraded spaces are highly functional enabling staff and students to learn in new ways.
