Pioneer Seeds - Treatment Building

Pioneer Seeds - Treatment Building

Commercial, 2015

In 2015, DStevens began work on the Genetic Technologies’ new Treatment Building at their Banks Street campus in Gisborne. This project involved working closely with Maurice Brown, Genetic Technologies Facilities Manager, to establish a project timeline that outlined a comprehensive operations approach and adhered to a strict deadline. The client’s vision was to provide a high-quality and safe working environment that aids the growth and operating efficiency of the existing Banks Street campus.

The most challenging aspect of the build was maintaining the project was completed on time and within budget. Pioneer Seeds set a strict requirement for the building to be completed in time for the early season corn crop harvest. Due to the strict deadline set by the client we implemented fast-tracked phasing in our programme of works. By working closely with the client we identified areas of the project works that could overlap to meet the project deadline, these efficiencies were also communicated to our subcontractors and consultants and then tracked through our internal Quality Assurance Framework; carefully managing all site progress and limiting any obstacles that may interrupt work.

Our experienced team of in-house contractors and tradespeople worked collaboratively across the campus to achieve project completion three weeks ahead of schedule. The earlier completion time allowed Genetic Technologies to spend extra time commissioning the machinery ready for the first crop to arrive.
